Men's Golf | Mount Marty Invite Preview

The Dordt Defender men's golf team will compete at the Mount Marty Invite on Monday and Tuesday, August 31 and September 1. The event will be competed at Hillcrest and Fox Run.  Both days will consist of 18-holes of competition.

Morningside, Concordia, Mount Marty, Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan, Mount Marty, Central Community College and Union Adventist will all have teams in the field.

2025-26 Finish
The Dordt University men's golf team held steady and finished fourth at the 54-hole Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Championship completed on Tuesday, April 21 at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. The event started with 36 holes on Monday, April 20 and Dordt was in fourth after day one.

The Defenders posted rounds of 305/308/300 with Tuesday's round played in as good of conditions as we've seen locally all semester.  Hastings won the event with an 886, shooting a 287 on Tuesday and Morningside and Northwestern were second and third with 899 and 905. Dordt was 13 strokes clear of Doane in fifth place.

Joseph Wolfe and Samuel Wolfe led Dordt and finished 6th and T14 respectively with scores of 225 and 229 respectively and both earned All-GPAC honors. Joseph Wolfe shot a 74 on Tuesday and Samuel Wolfe a 78.

Ian Grossmann was the big mover with a team best 71 on Tuesday and closed with a 230 to claim a tie for 16th in the 62 golfer field. 

Caleb Douma closed 24th overall with a three-round score of 233 and Trey Van Groningen was Dordt's final golfer with a 238 and was tied for 32nd.

Individually, Max Nielsen of Hastings won the event with a 217 and his teammate Taiki Sugawar shot a 219.  

This concludes the 2025-26 Dordt golf season. 

Notes: 
  • average score on the final 18-holes: 77.36
  • average score for the tournament was 78.68
  • Joseph Wolfe totaled six birdies, including a chip-in on hole six in his second round
  • Samuel Wolfe totaled five birdies
  • Caleb Douma made five birdies
  • Ian Grossmann made seven birdies with four in his final round
  • Trey Van Groningen totaled five birdies, scoring three of them in the final round
Next
Dordt and Northwestern will host the Siouxland Invite on Monday and Tuesday, September 14 and 15. The Monday rounds will be at the The Ridge and the Tuesday round will be at Landsmeer.
