Defenders With Top 10 Finishes in Two Relays on Final Day of Drake Relays

The Dordt University men's track and field team concluded the Drake Relays with a pair of top 10 finishes on the final day of 2026 event. The 2026 event was held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.  Notes
  • the Defenders finished second in the Distance Medley, Iowa College Division, in the morning session on the Blue Oval
  • the Defenders placed seventh in the finals of the 4x400 relay in the last event of the Relays
    • one day after earning a spot in the 8-team final, the Defenders placed seventh in today's final with a time of 3:14.3
    • Dordt was one of two NAIA teams to qualify for the finals
    • Levi Schelhaas, Jacob Schmoll, Scott Kroll and Noah Schroder ran for the Defenders
    • Minnesota State won the championship with a time of 3:06.48, just ahead of Iowa Western Community College
  • Ben Van Eps placed 14th out of 22 athletes in the javelin
    • Van Eps had the fifth best mark among NAIA individuals
    • the senior's best attempt was his third in the prelims (51.51m)
    • Trent Polley (Wartburg) won the event with a mark of 60-05m
