The Dordt University men's soccer team lost to Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 1-0 in a match played this afternoon at the Defenders Soccer Complex.
The Defenders' three-match win streak ends as they fall to 4-2-1 on the season and head into their conference opener against Concordia in seven days. MACU, a team earning votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' poll, improves to 7-1.
Scoreless after an evenly-played first half that had Mid-America Christian hold a slight 6-5 advantage in total shots, the visitors netted the game winner in the opening minutes of the second period when Filliph Kamfjord drove a shot in the back of the net off an assist from Jimmy Cabrera. It was Kamfjord's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The Defenders had a couple of chances to score the equalizer over the final 30 minutes with shots from both
Vincent Croney and
Pablo Martin that were deflected and stopped by MACU.
