The Dordt University men's soccer team lost to Concordia 2-0 in the conference opener for both teams played today at the Defenders Soccer Complex.

The Defenders have lost two straight and fall to 4-3-1 this season, 0-1 in the GPAC. Concordia, the defending GPAC Champion, improves to 1-0 in the conference, 3-4 overall.

Concordia scored a goal in each half, the first coming during the 11th minute by Joe McCarroll, who found the back of the net for the first time this season.

The Bulldogs picked up a big insurance goal by Sebastian Montino during the 63rd minute. 

By the Numbers: 

• Dordt outshot the Bulldgos 11-5, including a 6-4 edge on shots on-goal
• six different Defenders had one shot on-goal; Nate Alsum, Julian Janssen, Pablo Martin, Joseba Zabala, Henry Haufler and Jayden Donald
• Defenders goalkeeper Alvaro Boned made two saves
• Boned, Jayden Donald and Tate Hansen all played the full 90 minutes
• Kai Olbrich, Sebastain Montino, Joe McCarroll and Jasper Hofland all had one shot for the Bulldogs
• Florian Quast made four saves and earned the win in goal

Notes:

• Dordt played a player down for the final 34 minutes due to a red-card
• the Defenders had the advantage in total shots for the fifth time this season
