The Dordt University women's golf team closed the Mount Marty Classic with a steady final round Tuesday at Tatanka Golf Club, posting a 335 on layout after opening the tournament with a 333 on Monday. Dordt claimed third and were five strokes behind Dakota Wesleyan and Doane won the team title with a two-round 638.
The Defenders finished the two-day event with a 668 team total, led by
Olivia Meyering and
Chloe Attema, who both turned in rounds in the 70s during the tournament. Dordt's scoring four remained consistent across both days, with the team playing the front nine in 168 and the back nine in 167 during Tuesday's second round.
Chloe Attema led Dordt in the final round with a 79, carding a 40 on the front nine before improving with a 39 on the back. Attema's round included a birdie on the par-5 13th hole and gave her a two-day total of 161 after opening with an 82.
Olivia Meyering followed with an 82 on Tuesday, shooting 42-40 after leading Dordt with a first-round 77 on Monday. Meyering finished with Dordt's top overall score at 159, highlighted by a strong opening round that included an eagle on the par-5 second hole and a birdie on the par-4 sixth.
Ashlee Sweeter added an 86 in the second round with a 40 on the front nine and 46 on the back, finishing at 171, while
Avery Bunkers improved by one stroke from Monday with an 88 after rounds of 46-42. Maggie
Domeyer made a 10-stroke improvement from round one to round two, closing with a 94 after shooting 104 on Monday.
Dordt won't golf again until mid-October when the Defenders conclude the fall portion of the schedule in Kansas City.
