Maria Zylstra scored four goals (commonly referred to as a "haul") in leading the Dordt University women's soccer team to an 8-0 win over Waldorf in a match played tonight on Bolstorff Field in Forest City, Iowa.
The Defenders picked up their first conference win of the season and improve to 1-1 in the GPAC, 2-3-2 overall. Waldorf sees its record fall to 2-5 overall, 0-2 in the conference.
Scoreless until the 20th minute, Dordt netted its first goal when
Abi Keltner gained possession near midfield, passed to
Jenna Roberts who then connected with Zylstra on a through ball that the junior drove a shot passed the Walforf goalkeeper. Less than a minute later, Roberts scored the Defenders second goal when she was the beneficiary of a great pass by
Abby Foster. Zylstra put the Defenders up 3-0 with her second goal at the 26th minute off an assist by
Ashlyn Marjama.
Leading 3-0 at the half, Dordt scored five second half goals, two each by Zylstra and
Joslyn Vander Molen. Zylstra netted her third goal at the 49th minute off an assist by
Brooke Marjama. Two minutes later, it was Marjama again showing off her play-making skills when she connected with Vander Molen for the Defenders fifth goal. Zylstra finished off her "haul" with her fourth goal during the 53rd minute while Vander Molen made the score 7-0 with her second goal during the 56th minute.
Grace Engbrecht completed the scoring for the Defenders, finding the back of the net during the 80th minute off a pass from
Audrey Kingery.
