Lems Signs On With Defender Basketball

(Monday, December 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ellie Lems, a senior at Sioux Falls Christian High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program. 

"Ellie is a fantastic addition to our basketball program and campus community. She has incredible drive and a competitive spirit that will serve her and our program well. Ellie is an amazing person that has a servant heart. We have high hopes for her as she embraces and advances the Defender Way on and off the basketball court," said Dordt head basketball coach Bill Harmsen.  

Lems has averaged 14 points, five rebounds and three assists for Sioux Falls Christian and was an all-state tournament selection in 2022 along with being selected all-conference. She's been on two state tournament qualifying teams and has also played for the Pentagon Schoolers.  

"Dordt has a great community and the education is Christ-centered which will prepare me for my future career to be His hands and feet," said Lems.  

Ellie is the daughter of Paul and Mollie Lems of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She plans to enter the pre-med program at Dordt University.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

?U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
