The Dordt Defender softball team finished a 3-1 weekend with a 9-2 win over Peru State on Saturday, February 18 at the American State Bank Dome in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders allowed a run in the second inning but
Aurora Tyson answered with a single to centerfield that scored
Ivy Terpstra and
Brooklynn Cox knocked a grand slam to put the Defenders up 5-1 later in the inning.
The Bobcats got one back in the third but
Ella Koster and
Lauren Steenstra had a double and single that each scored a run and
Ivy Terpstra and
Ella Koster both had run scoring triples in the sixth inning.
THE NUMBERS
- Jadyn Faber started the game and gave up two runs in two and a third innings and struck out one.
- Hailey Wilken pitched in relief and went four and two-third innings and allowed three hits with three strikeouts and earned the win.
- Ella Koster was 3-4 with a run scored and two runs batted in with a single, double and triple.
- Aurora Tyson was 2-4 with a run batted in.
- Ivy Terpstra was 2-3 with three runs scored and a run batted in.
- Brooklynn Cox had four runs batted in and was 1-3 with her homerun.
- Dordt is now 6-2 this season and will play four more games next weekend at the ASB Sports Complex.
