Karli Olsen had a career-high four hits and Halee Wilken picked up her fourth win of the season in leading Dordt University to an 8-2 win over Waldorf in the first game of the Defenders home classic played this weekend at the American State Bank Sports Complex.
Dordt improves its record to 7-2 heading into its Friday evening match-up against Avila.
Olsen was perfect at the plate, going a career-best 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs to pace the Defenders 10-hit attack.
Chandler Schemper added two hits and two runs scored while
Addison Schmidt,
Ella Koster and
Taylor Knaack all had one hit and one RBI each.
Following a scoreless top of the first inning from Wilken, Dordt pushed across three runs in the bottom of the first on three hits and a Waldorf error. Schemper led of with a double and came around to score the first run after a triple by Olsen.
Ella Koster then reached on an error by the Warriors infield, scoring Olsen, stole second and plated the final run on a Knaack RBI single.
Another three runs in the second inning put the Defenders in front 6-0. Brooklyn Cox reached base on a 1-out walk, stole second and scored off an RBI single by Schemper. Olsen followed with her second triple in as many innings, scoring Schemper once again.
Emma Groen drove in Olsen with a sacrifice fly to leftfield.
Dordt added a single run in the bottom of the fifth when pinch-hitter
Addison Schmidt hit a two-out single that scored Koster.
Waldorf broke through with a pair of runs in the sixth on four singles and RBIs from Kierra Lynn Shulz and Kaela Eslinger. Olsen delievred the Defenders final run when she drove in Cox with a single in the home half of the sixth.
Wilken (4-0) earned her team-leading fourth win of the season, giving up eight hits (6 singles, 2 doubles) in six innings. Wilken walked two and struck out three.
Alexa Kopaska finished off the game with a scoreless seventh.
Emily Muro and Eslinger both had two hits to lead the Warriors. McKenna Mentlink (1-1) took the loss, giving up nine hits and eight runs in five innings.
