The Dordt University softball team rallied from an early 3-run deficit to earn a 7-4 win over Dakota State in the final game of the Defenders home softball classic played today at the American State Bank Sports Complex.
The Defenders finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record and extend their win streak to six games. Head Coach

Ella Koster had a career best four hits and drove in two runs,
Emma Groen totaled three hits and four RBI's as the Defenders matcher their season-high with 12 hits off three Dakota State pitchers.
Chandler Schemper continued her great production in the leadoff spot, reaching base three times and scoring three runs while
Aurora Tyson went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Dordt fell behind 3-0 as Dakota state scored three unearned runs in the top of the first inning. Jacquelyn Folkers drew a bases loaded walk and Jadynn Alvarado hit an RBI single for the Trojans.
The Defenders came back with a run in the bottom of the first when Groen drove in Schemper with a one-out single. Still down 3-1, Dordt plated three runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good. Three consecutive singles from Schemper, Olsen and Groen led to the first Dordt run and put runners at first and second with no outs. After a fly-out, Koster and Tyson delivered RBI singles to give Dordt the lead.
Dordt picked up three insurance runs and four more hits in the home half of the sixth. Groen hit a two-run double and came around to score the Defenders final run on an RBI single by Koster. Dakota State closed out the scoring with a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Michelle Evdos.
Abby Kraemer (3-2) picked up the win in relief, giving up just three hits and one run in the final six innings. Kraemer recorded seven strikeouts, one shy of her season high.
Carrington Entringer paced the Trojans five-hit attack with two hits and two runs scored. Maycee Briker, the first of three DSU pitchers, took the loss, giving up seven hits and four earned runs in three innings.
