(Wednesday, February 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) Trinity Watson, a senior at Henry High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender women's basketball program.
"Trinity is a great addition to our basketball program and campus community. She has had a tremendous high school career and has led her team to a current 16-3 record. Trinity is an awesome individual, and we look forward to watching her grow and develop in all areas of the Defender Way," said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.
Watson is a 5-9 guard who is averaging 15.0 points per game with four rebounds, three assists and two steals per contest. Watson is converting 43 percent of her three-point shots and 53 percent of her field goals. She has scored over 1,000 career points and is a three-time all-conference honoree and is the all-time leading scorer at Henry High School.
"I chose Dordt because it has a great program and have my major. I also chose Dordt because they have an amazing coaching staff and women's basketball team," said Watson.
Trinity is the daughter of Troy and Nicky Watson of Henry, South Dakota. She plans to study exercise science at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
