GAME 1
A four run first inning put Midland ahead in game one of Dordt's GPAC doubleheader with the Warriors as Dordt lost a 10-1 decision.
Dordt got its only run of the game on a
Nolan Christianson fielder's choice with the bases loaded that scored
Kaden Davis. Davis reached with a single to start the inning. The run made it 5-1 with Midland tacking on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and three in the seventh frame.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt scored one run on five hits and committed five errors.
- Midland scored 10 runs on eight hits and didn't commit and error.
- Drew Oreskes and Kaden Davis each had singles and Jason Carrig had two singles in the loss with a base on balls.
- Logan Harris had the only extra base hit for the Defenders with a double.
- Matthew Ramstead took the loss and was charged with four runs on three hits with a walk in the first inning.
- Chaz Gothard pitched six innings of relief and struck out three with five runs allowed and gave up four hits.
GAME 2
Midland scored runs in seven of the first eight innings to take a Friday sweep of the Defenders in Fremont, Nebraska. The Defenders were originally scheduled for Sioux Center but was move to Fremont for better playing conditions. Dordt was the home team in the scoring.
Midland got three in the first and two in the second before Dordt answered with a four run bottom of the second. Â A sacrifice fly by
Trevor Jackson scored one run and a single by
Carson Belcher added two more.
Logan Harris's single ended the scoring for Dordt and made it 5-4 at the time.
Midland responded with four in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, one in the seventh and a six run eighth inning put the game out of reach.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt had four runs on four hits and committed three errors.
- Midland had 19 runs on 12 hits with three errors.
- Bennett Spronk took the loss and pitched an inning and a third with five runs allowed on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
- Dordt used six pitchers in the game.
- Jason Carrig was 2-4 while Logan Harris and Carson Belcher had Dordt's two other hits. Harris also had a stolen base.
- All of Dordt's hits were singles.
