McCool To Join Defender Basketball

(Friday, May 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) Izzy McCool has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

"Izzy is an awesome competitor with a huge upside.  She loves the game and truly loves to compete at a high level. Izzy's true strengths will be realized through the relationships she develops with her teammates and the positive Christ-like leadership she will provide.  Izzy is a tremendous addition to our campus community," said Dordt women's basketball coach Bill Harmsen

McCool played for North Polk High School (Iowa) and averaged 7.9 points per game with 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per outing. She helped North Polk to a Class 4A State runner-up finish  and she earned second-team all-conference honors this season and honorable mention accolades in 2021-22.

"I believe Dordt will be the perfect play to help me identify my God-given passion. One of my goals is to live a life that is pleasing to God and that glorifies Him. God has called Christians to "not conform to the patterns of this world" but to be set apart and be different. I want to be so deeply rooted in Christ that my reflects his  love and undeserving grace and it is evident and desirable to others. I hope the way I live my life is a testimony that can help others to God," said McCool.

Isabela is the daughter of Richard and Tracie McCool of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. She is undecided on her intended field of study.
