HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Concordia in GPAC play Saturday afternoon in Seward, Nebraska. The Defenders lost a trio of 25-14 decisions to the no. 2 ranked team in the NAIA.
The Bulldogs started with an 8-0 run in set one before an attack error got Dordt on the board. The Bulldogs extended the lead and eventually won the 25-14 decision to take a 1-0 lead. Set two was close early with the five ties up to 6-6. A pair of Concordia points from a kill and an ace opened a two-point advantage and the Defenders got within 13-11 after a
Tarren Spartz kill. Concordia's answer was a 6-0 run and the Bulldogs held on to win 25-14.
A 5-0 run to start set three pushed the Bulldogs to the sweep as the Defenders were unable to keep pace.
THE NUMBERS
- Concordia had a 39-20 kills advantage and had 11 ace serves.
- Tarren Spartz had a team high six kills.
- Ellie Dokter and Riley Doenhoefer each had five kills.
- Kelly McArthur put up 12 assists and seven digs.
- Makenna Kooima had nine digs to lead Dordt.
- Dordt is now 1-11 overall and 0-6 in the league. Concordia is now 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the GPAC.
