The Dordt University men's soccer team came up just short in its 2-1 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan in a match played tonight at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
The Defenders three-match win streak is snapped as they fall to 3-2 this season. Nebraska Wesleyan improves its record to 2-0-1 and is off to its best start since the 2018 season.
With Dordt trailing 2-0 late in the second half,
Jacob Narkis, the regning GPAC Offensive Player of the Week, broke through with a goal off an assist from
Dylan McIntosh to give the Defenders a glimmer of hope with eight minutes left. Dordt had two chances over the final seven-plus minutes to score the equalizer, one on a corner kick and the other on a shot from
Marco Laenen that was stopped by the NWU goalkeeper.Â
Nebraska Wesleyan scored a goal in each half, the first by Alex Aguilar during the 18th minute from an assist by Alvaro Pascual. Jaden Hayes put the Prairie Wolves up 2-0 on a goal during the 56th minute, assisted by Eli Rhodes.Â
