Defenders Win Seventh GPAC Match With Sweep

The Dordt Defender volleyball team secured its 13th win of the season and its seventh win in conference play with a sweep of Briar Cliff on Wednesday night in Sioux Center (25-21, 25-21, 25-12)

The Defenders overcame an early five-point deficit to tie the set at 8-8 on a Haley Kuperus kill.  The Chargers recovered to run off a pair of points and eventually went up 14-9.  Back to back kills by Tarren Spartz started a seven point run that was punctuated by a Sara Holleman kill. Briar Cliff again had an answer with a four point run to lead 19-16.  Dordt's Carlee Jackson got a dump shot for a kill and Dordt reeled off seven points in a row and the Chargers were never closer than three on the way to a 25-21 loss.

Dordt pushed out to a 10-3 lead in set two but the Chargers cut away at the difference and had the lead down to 17-15 when Dordt used a timeout.  After the timeout Kuperus recorded a kill and Kylie Beckering put an ace serve in. Kuperus and Ellie Dokter made it three in a row with a block and Dordt went on to win 25-21 for the 2-0 match lead.  Dordt put set three away with a 6-0 run to go up 17-7 and rolled to the 25-12 win.
