The Dordt Defenders earned their eighth win of the GPAC season with a back and forth 3-2 win over the Waldorf Warriors on Saturday night in Sioux Center.
Dordt led 21-19 in set one but the visitors rallied and six of the last seven points for a 25-22 win. Dordt answered with a quick start in set two and led 17-8 after a Myra Carlson kill. Waldorf promptly started a comeback with a 6-0 run and eventually worked back to a 22-22 tie. After a Waldorf serving error Tarren Spartz recorded a kill and Carlson followed with another kill for a 25-22 win.
The Warriors promptly neutralized the momentum and had a 6-0 lead but Dordt rallied and Haley Kuperus got a kill to tie the set at 12-12. Dordt had a 17-14 lead after a Spartz kill but Waldorf had four points in a row and managed to get to set point before a Kelly McArthur kill tied the match at 24-24. An attack error followed and Dordt was serving for set point but couldn't close the deal with Waldorf getting back to back kills to get back to set point and a third point in a row gave the visitors a 2-1 match lead.
Dordt never trailed in set four and evened the match with a 25-18 win to set up a decisive set five. Waldorf got up 2-0 in set five but Dordt took the lead for good with a Sara Holleman kill and an attack error gave Dordt a 5-3 lead. Waldorf again had a rally and tied the set at 11-11. Spartz got a kill and Haley Wielenga's back to back aces got Dordt to match point and an attack error pushed Dordt to a 15-11 win.

Dordt had a 66-41 kills advantage and a .156-.098 kill efficiency edge.
Both teams scored ten points on blocks and Dordt had a 12-7 service ace edge.
Dordt committed 18 service errors and Waldorf eight.
