Box Score (PDF)
The Defenders outscored Dakota Wesleyan 32-17 over the final 11:50 of the game to overcome a 10-point deficit in the third quarter. Dordt trailed 20-15 after one quarter and never got closer than four in the second quarter until a
Macy Sievers three-point basket with :06 left in the half sent it to 35-33 at the break.
Dordt scored the first point of the second half but then went 7:24 without scoring as Wesleyan pushed the difference to 44-34. A
Brooke Smith basket, her second of the game, stopped the run and
Janie Van Donge followed with a free throw. After an offensive rebound
Desta Hoogendoorn converted a bucket and free throw and another steal resulted in Sievers converting two free throws for a 44-42 third quarter break score.
Dordt tied it but Wesleyan had back-to-back baskets to seemingly weather the storm and Wesleyan's lead was still four after a Maleighya Estes basket with 4:43 remaining. A corner three-point basket by
Olivia Harazin and a Sievers three with 3:44 put
Dordt up 57-55 and
Janie Van Donge capped the 8-0 run with a layup. Wesleyan would get as close as two but a step-back three-point shot by Sievers with :36 left in the game changed the complexion of the game and sent Dordt to the five-point win.
