(Thursday, May 9; Sioux Center, Iowa) Jalyn Struble, a senior at West Monona High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
Jalyn is a 5-3 guard who averaged 12.6 points, 5.7 assists and 3.1 steals per game as a senior. She was an all-conference selection three times and was selected to play in the 2024 Senior All-Star game in Class 2A. Jalyn was also a winner of the IGCA Women's Basketball Scholarship for academic and athletic achievements. She also played in the Play4Him AAU program.
"I chose Dordt because the true love for Jesus that the coaches, professors, and leaders on campus have. I know that at Dordt I'll be able to grow as a Christian, student, and athlete. It is evident that Coach Harmsen and the rest of the staff want to invest in me beyond my basketball skills. They are interested in me as a person and in strengthening my relationship with the Lord. I cannot wait to grow in a community where God is the central focus!" said Struble.
Jalyn is the daughter of Sara and Jeremy Struble of Onawa, Iowa. She plans to study Biology and be in the Pre-Med program at Dordt.
