(Monday, August 26; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ella Poppema, a recent graduate of Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to enroll at Dordt University and join the Defender softball program.
Poppema was an outfielder for the Knights and had 17 runs batted in this summer with two doubles, two triples, two homeruns, and 14 runs scored.
"I chose Dordt for the Christ-centered community and because it felt like home," said Poppema.
Ella is the daughter of Joe and Jina Poppema. She plans to study
business administration at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
