Softball Commit | Emerson Van Meter

(Friday, August 30; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Emerson Van Meter, a graduate of Adair-Casey Guthrie Center High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender softball program.

Van Meter batted .285 with 22 hits, five doubles and 12 runs batted in. She also posted a 2.68 earned run average with 102 strikeouts in 125 innings of work. 

"I chose Dordt because of the excellent nursing program and because I liked the campus and knew I would be comfortable here. I also had a great talk with Coach Zomer and knew he was the coach I wanted to continue playing softball for," said Van Meter.  

Emerson is the daughter of Eric and Melia Van Meter of Guthrie Center, Iowa. She will study Nursing at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
