RECENTLY
The Defenders went 2-2 for the second weekend in a row last weekend with wins over Mayville State and Dickinson State and losses to Benedictine and Valley City State. Against Dickinson State Spartz and Dokter each had 15 kills and Kuperus had 13 in the five-set win.
The Mustangs were 3-1 last weekend with wins over Cottey, Mayville State and York and a loss to Jamestown. The win over York closed the weekend with Sydney Marlow getting 16 kills and 13 digs and Claire Wilson had 12 kills.
THE SERIES
Dordt leads the series 32-18 since 1989 and the Mustangs have won three matches in a row after Dordt had claimed three wins in a row. Dordt lost last year's August 30 meeting 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 15-9) . Marlow had 13 kills to lead Morningside and Dalach had 29 assists. Â
Riley Doenhoefer and Spartz had 16 and 15 kills each and
Campbell Marshall had 26 assists.
Morningside was a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 26-24) winner on October 31 in Sioux City with Claire Wilson and Payten Lode each getting nine kills and Dalach had 30 assists and three aces. Marlow had six aces and seven kills. Dordt was topped by
Bryleigh Schweer with seven kills and
Sophie Johnson had 15 assists.
