Gracie Schoonhoven and
Macy Sievers were named offensive and defensive player-of-the-week respectively.
Schoonhoven had a career-high 35 points in a win over #14 Dakota Wesleyan and followed that with 26 points against #9 Concordia. She made 65 percent of her field goals and had eight rebounds in each game. Schoonhoven is averaging 22.6 points per game this season with 7.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists and 2.3 steals per outing. Schoonhoven is closing in on 1,000 career points and has 919 points.
Sievers averaged 12.5 rebounds per game in the two wins and had 2.5 steals with 1.5 blocks per game and was effective on the offensive end where she averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 assists per game. Sievers is scoring 16.4 points per game with 9.0 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 2.5 steals. She ranks 6
th all-time at Dordt with 1,495 points and is 7
th all-time with 793 rebounds. She's already the career leader in assists with 881 and steals with 306.
The Defenders are scheduled to play games against MidAmerica Nazarene and Benedictine on Friday and Saturday, December 19 and 20 and will be off for 10 days when they resume GPAC play against Waldorf at home on Tuesday, December 30.
