The Dordt Defender softball team was on the short end of two 3-2 decisions on Saturday afternoon at the American State Bank Sports Complex in Sioux Center. Dordt was tripped by York in the opener and lost a 3-2 decision to Valley City State in the last game of the weekend. Dordt is now 7-6 after a 1-3 weekend.

Dordt started the scoring against York with a
Chloe Kreuz single that plated
Brooke Rule in the first inning but York had an answer with three runs in the second inning on three hits an they left the bases full.
Dordt got another run in the third inning when
Brooke Rule reached on an error and went all the way to third. Kreuz followed with a sacrifice fly and
Annabelle Hensley reached on an error to rekindle the threat.
Ashtyn Grissom followed with a walk but the threat ended with the two on first and second.
Dordt went scoreless the rest of the game but had the bases loaded in the fifth but a ground out ended the threat and Dordt again loaded the bases in the seventh but a strikeout and ground out ended the rally.

VS VALLEY CITY STATE
Dordt squandered a 2-0 lead and lost a 3-2 decision to the Valley City State Vikings. Dordt got a run in the first with
Annabelle Hensley doubling in
Brooklynn Cox and
Kacie Karsak had a single in the fourth that scored Hensley for a 2-0 lead.
Neither team had a great scoring opportunity until the sixth when Valley City State scored three on four hits and left two on base. Dordt was retired in order in the seventh to end the game.
