The Dordt baseball team split its doubleheader with Avila for the second day in a row in games played in Kansas City to return home with a 2-2 record to start the season. Dordt won in come from behind fashion in game one with an 8-4 win and lost the second game 17-6.

GAME 1
Dordt used five pitchers in game one to piece together a dramatic win.
Dordt got on the board in the top of the second with
Joseph Schlesselman scoring on a passed ball but the Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the second off Dordt starter
Matthew Eubanks.
Gabriel McFarland singled in
Jimmy Twombly for a Dordt 2-1 lead in the third but Avila answered with two more in the fourth inning. The 3-2 Avila lead held until the seventh and final frame when Twombly knocked in Matthew McMillan and
Carson Belcher scored on an error for a 4-3 lead with the bases loaded.
Morgan Wilkins answered the bell with a grand slam to right-center field for an 8-3
Dordt lead that held up as Avila scored one in the home half of the seventh.

GAME 2
A seven-run first inning took much of the suspense out of the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday in Kansas City.
Avila scored seven in the first, three in the third and six in the fifth before Dordt countered with six runs in the sixth inning.
Dordt's runs came with a three-run homerun by
Chisum Demmers and a two run shot by
DJ Kerr gave Dordt its fourth and fifth runs of the inning. A fielder's choice by Schlesselman ended Dordt's scoring and Avila finished the game with a run in the fifth.
