The Dordt Defender softball team lost a pair to Midland in GPAC play on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders rallied in game one to get within a run but the Warriors had an answer in the next inning for a 6-3 win and in game two Dordt led for the first five innings before Midland took the lead and held on for a 4-3 sweep of the Defenders.

GAME 1
The Warriors scored two in the first and another run each in the fourth and fifth for a 4-0 lead before the Dordt offense got going.
Ashtyn Grissom homered to rightfield to lead off the home half of the fifth inning and Julie Bremer's fielder's choice resulted in a throwing error that scored
Taylor Schneider.Â
Brooke Rule followed with a single that scored Bremer from third to get the lead down to 4-3.
One inning later the Warriors answered with a two-run homer that Dordt was unable to counter and the 6-3 score stood.

GAME 2
A three-run sixth inning vaulted Midland to a 4-3 win in game two as Dordt scored two in the first and threatened again after giving up the lead but fell short.
Dordt's first runs came after
Brooke Rule tripled and
Brooklynn Cox laid down a bunt that Rule scored on, avoiding the tag at home.
Annabelle Hensley grounded out to score Cox from third and Dordt had a 2-0 lead. Dordt maintained the lead until the sixth when Midland three runs on a hit and an error.
The Defenders went quietly in the sixth and Midland added another unearned run in the seventh to lead 4-2.
Brynn Torrenga singled to lead off the seventh inning but was retired on a fielder's choice for the second out of the inning. Cox walked to get the tying run on base and
Chloe Kreuz singled to get one run and got the tying run to third base but that runner was stranded there with a ground out ending the game.

Dordt is now 6-8 in the GPAC and 17-24 overall while Midland is 10-2 in the GPAC and 28-11 overall. Dordt will travel to face Concordia on Tuesday, April 15 and will face Morningside on Saturday, April 19.
