The Dordt Defenders split their softball games with Concordia in Seward, Nebraska on Tuesday, April 15 in GPAC play. Dordt won game one 9-6 and lost game two in five innings, 13-3.

GAME 1
The teams were tied 2-2 after three innings with Dordt getting a run each in the second and third on a ground out by Julia Bremer in the second and a Lauren Steenstra grounder that was misplayed in the third. 

Bremer started a four-run uprising in the fourth with a triple that scored Taylor Schneider and later scored on a Peyton Whipple ground out. Brooklynn Cox added a single to get Brooke Rul across and Chloe Kreuz had a run scoring double for a 6-2 lead.

Whipple added a run in the sixth with a triple that got Cox in for an 8-2 lead. Concordia came back with two in the sixth, but Dordt scored another in the seventh to extend the lead and held on for a 9-6 win after Concordia scored two in the home half of the seventh.

GAME 2
Dordt had a 1-0 lead after its first at bat, but Concordia scored three in the bottom the first and pulled away from a 5-3 deficit with eight in the fourth to end the game in five innings.

Chloe Kreuz singled in Brooklynn Cox in the first and a Lauren Steenstra homerun in the third got Dordt within 5-2.  A bases loaded walk to Annabelle Hensley cut the lead later in the inning to 5-3 before Concordia got rolling in their half.

Dordt threatened to extend the game in the fifth with a Grissom single and Taylor Horsham walked to get two runners on with one out, but the inning ended on a strikeout and a ground out.

Dordt missed out on several scoring opportunities with 10 runners left on base.

Dordt is now 7-9 in the GPAC and 18-25 overall while Concordia is 9-9 in the league and 24-16 overall.
