Dordt's softball team swept Briar Cliff by a pair of eight run decisions on Wednesday, April 23, 9-1 and 14-6. The wins got Dordt within two games of .500 in league play with one doubleheader to go.

A
Lauren Steenstra homerun in the second inning put Dordt ahead 2-1 and
Chloe Kreuz singled in
Brooke Rule to start a three-run third inning. Steenstra singled in Kreuz and
Ashtyn Grissom doubled in a run to cap the scoring.
Dordt added two more in the fourth on a Kreuz single and a Hensley double and the Defenders ended the game with two in the fifth as Rule and
Brooklynn Cox both singled in runs to end the game early.
Steenstra's homerun was her 13
th of the season and established a new single-season record, bettering the previous record held by Ashtyn Beaird from 2015.
Annabelle Hensley also established a single-season doubles record with 20, passing Erica White's 18 in 2014.

GAME TWO
Annabelle Hensley slugged a two-run homerun to start Dordt's scoring in game two but Briar Cliff came back with three in the second.
Dordt's response was quick with
Brooklynn Cox reached on an error to get
Brooke Rule in and
Chloe Kreuz had a double that scored Cox. A Hensley single kept the scoring going with Kreuz coming across and Steenstra slugged her second homerun of the day for a 7-3 lead.
Kyleigh Reiter's single followed by Cox's single added to the Dordt scoring and pushed Dordt up 10-3.
Briar Cliff scored three more in the fourth inning but Steenstra bashed her second homerun of the game over the scoreboard and
Brynn Torrenga's sacrifice fly scored
Molly Zylstra. After a scoreless top of the fifth Hensley singled in a run and Steenstra singled in Hensley to end the game.
