For the second straight weekend the Dordt Defender volleyball team went 3-1 at a classic with the lone setback a five-set loss. Dordt earned a pair of wins on Saturday at the event in Oskaloosa, Iowa hosted by William Penn. Dordt was a 3-0 winner over Graceland and a 3-1 winner over Clarke to improve to 6-2 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set one featured nine ties up to 14-14 before
Haley Kuperus had a kill followed by a
Sara Holleman kill. The Defenders went up 18-14 by the time their run was over and Dordt went on to win 25-17.
Set two was equally tight up to a 15-15 tie when
Myra Carlson gave Dordt the lead for good and
Carlee Jackson had an ace serve. After a Graceland timeout the Defenders got another two points and the Yellow Jackets never got closer than three with Dordt winning by a 25-19 margin.
A 4-0 start in set three by the Defenders put the in control and after a pair of two-point leads the Defenders pushed the lead to five points. Graceland never got closer than four, the last time at 20-16, and Dordt rolled to a five-point streak to close the set with
Haley Wielenga serving the final four points with an ace and kills by
Haley Kuperus and
Madyson Fey to finish it.

Set 1 saw the teams play to a 9-9 tie early before Dordt's 6-1 run put them in control, 16-10. The run included four points in a row where four different players,
Haley Kuperus,
Sara Holleman,
Chloe Huisman and Myr Carlson had kills. Dordt used that margin to go on and win 25-19.
Clarke grabbed a 10-3 lead in set two with Dordt's rallied coming up short in a 26-24 deficit.
A 10-0 run midway through set three put Dordt in control and the Defenders rolled on to a 25-12 win.
Set four was tied 16-16 before a 9-1 finish by Dordt finished the match for Dordt.
