In a pitcher's duel at the ASB Dome, Saint Xavier (IL) squeezed out a 1-0 victory over Dordt.

The game's only run materialized in the top of the third inning. After a Saint Xavier walk and wild pitch, a single gave St. Xavier the lead.

Despite the loss, Dordt's Rylee Yager was sharp in the circle, striking out five batters and surrendering only two hits over seven innings. However, the Defenders' offense struggled to capitalize on their four hits, ultimately leaving five runners on base.

Dordt will be off until next Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28 with four games on the schedule.  The Defenders are 10-2

Dordt's Best Scoring Opportunities

• Bottom of the 1st: Dordt threatened early when Chloe Kreuz and Annabelle Hensley both singled with one out to put two runners on. However, the inning ended with a pop-up and a groundout.
• Bottom of the 3rd: Chloe Kreuz doubled to center field with one out, representing the tying run in scoring position. She was left stranded after a fly-out and a line-out ended the frame.
• Bottom of the 6th: The Defenders saw their best late-game chance when Rylee Yager doubled down the left-field line and moved to third on a sacrifice fly by Annabelle Hensley. With the tying run just 60 feet away and one out, Saint Xavier induced a groundout and a pop-up to preserve the lead.
