(Wednesday, March 4; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its softball players-of-the-week for games played February 23-March 1and Dordt's Lauren Steenstra (Senior; Wyoming, Michigan) has been named the offensive-player-of-the-week.

Steenstra batted .727 as the Defenders went 4-0 last week and had seven runs batted in with three extra-base hits.  She had multi-hit games in three of the contests and went 1-1 in limited action in the fourth game of the weekend. Steenstra is currently batting .375 with a team high seven doubles and had three triples and three homeruns while knocking in 22 runs so far.

Dordt is 15-4 and is in Florida for another eight games before returning to Iowa.  The Defenders are scheduled to open GPAC play on Wednesday, March 18 at home against Waldorf and will host Mount Marty on March 21.
