Women's Volleyball | Strasser Named Assistant Coach

(Wednesday, April 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt University has announced Emily Strasser as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball program beginning in June.

"I'm excited to welcome Emily to our coaching staff. As a former standout GPAC student-athlete, she brings a strong understanding of the conference, and she's continued to elevate her coaching résumé at SMSU, a highly respected program at the Division II level. Emily is knowledgeable, driven, and ready to make an immediate impact on our team as both a leader and a coach," said Dordt women's volleyball coach Jacki Smith.

Strasser is currently serving as an assistant at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) with both the volleyball and softball programs and earned her bachelor's degree from Northwestern College (Iowa) in 2023, transferred to SMSU in the fall of 2023 and was a member of the Mustang volleyball team before transitioning to assistant coaching.

"As a coach, my convictions shape how I view student-athletes. I see them first as people created in God's image, each with unique gifts, struggles, and stories. This perspective influences how I communicate expectations, handle conflict, and build relationships. I strive to lead with patience, consistency, and care, while still holding athletes to high standards. My goal is to help athletes grow not only in skill, but also in confidence, accountability, and faith," said Strasser.

Strasser was an All-GPAC performer in both volleyball and softball during her playing career and SMSU posted a combined 44-13 combined match record in 2024-25 with her as assistant coach.
