The Dordt University volleyball team hit .400 as a team and recorded 53 kills in a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-17, 25-20) over Waldorf on Saturday afternoon in Forest City, Iowa.

The Defenders improved to 11-5 overall and 2-2 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. Waldorf fell to 8-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Dordt set the tone early in the opening set, pulling away with a 6-0 run behind the serving of Peyton Poppema to build a 21-11 advantage. Haley Kuperus and Scarlett Winterfeld fueled the attack as the Defenders hit .467 in the frame to take the first set 25-15.
The Defenders carried the momentum into the second set, using balanced attacking from Ada Dekkers and Shayna Van Dyken along with a steady service run by Kylie Beckering to open up a 16-11 lead. Dordt maintained control late and closed out the 25-17 win on a kill by Kuperus.
Waldorf battled closely in the third set, staying within striking distance at 18-15 before Dordt pulled away. Winterfeld delivered four kills during a key 5-1 spurt to push the margin to 23-16. Ellie Weg and Haley Wielenga provided the final kills to seal the sweep with a 25-20 third-set victory.
Dordt totaled 53 kills against only 13 errors on 100 attempts, finishing with a .400 attack percentage. The Defenders recorded 49 assists, 51 digs, five aces, and 5.0 team blocks. Waldorf was held to 27 kills and hit .143 with 31 digs and three service aces.
Haley Kuperus and Scarlett Winterfeld paced the Dordt offense with 11 kills apiece, with Winterfeld hitting .474 and Kuperus hitting .333. Ada Dekkers added nine kills without an error (.643) and four total blocks (one solo, three assists).
Laney Wolfswinkel contributed eight kills (.500) and Ellie Weg tallied seven kills with no errors (.700). Shayna Van Dyken added six kills and two block assists.
Carlee Jackson directed the offense with 24 assists and six digs, while Maggie Van Schepen registered 19 assists. Kylie Beckering anchored the defense with a match-high 15 digs and two aces, and Haley Wielenga recorded 10 digs.
