The Dordt Defender volleyball team had little trouble making it a season sweep of the Briar Cliff Chargers on Wednesday night by set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-13. 

Dordt started fast in set one with a 7-1 lead and didn't let up in the set while preserving a 25-11 win and closed the set with five straight points, the last two coming on blocks by Alli Timmermans and Ellie Voss. Early in set two Dordt had a five point run to go from down 2-1 to up 6-2 and the string of points featured kills by four different players and a Briar Cliff attack error. The Chargers closed to within 14-11 but Dordt had a five point run to take control back and won the set 25-17.

Leading 12-9 in set three, Brenna Krommendyk had a pair of kills and Riley Doenhoefer had a kill as well and Dordt built the lead to 17-9 and effectively put the set out of reach.

THE NUMBERS

• Dordt had a .375 kill efficiency while limiting Briar Cliff to -.013. The Defenders had 44 kills and 11 errors while Briar Cliff had 19 kills and 20 errors.
• Dordt had a 5-3 ace serves edge and had 10 points on blocks while allowing six.
• Riley Doenhoefer had 11 kills and Ellie Voss 10.
• Brenna Krommendyk, Avey Amelse and Isabella Cumana all had six kills.
• Megan Raszler had four ace serves and 15 assists and Sophie Johnson had 22 assists.
• Makenna Kooima had a team high 10 digs.

Dordt is now 13-5 overall and 7-3 in league play and will travel to face Midland on Saturday afternoon.
