A match that began on September 17 was finally brought to a conclusion on Thursday night, October 20 with the Jamestown Jimmies defeating Dordt 3-1 in GPAC volleyball action.  The match was originally scheduled for September 17 but was halted due to a medical emergency that day with the match tied 1-1. Â
Jamestown fought off a Dordt rally in set three and controlled set four on the way to their tenth win in league play while the Defenders dropped their second match in a row against a top-10 NAIA school.
Dordt won set one after getting up 20-15 and the Defenders were able to fight off the Jamestown rally with a 25-21 win. The Jimmies came back to take a 17-11 lead in set two before Dordt came back to tie the set at 20-20. The Defenders got to set point on an
Allison Timmermans kill for a 24-23 lead but three straight points by the visitors gave them a 26-24 lead.
At that point the match was suspended and resumed on October 20. The Jimmies, who have lost just once since absorbing a season opening loss to Eastern Oregon, pulled away to a 9-5 edge. The Defenders were able to fight back to tie the set on an
Isabella Cumana kill for an 11-11 tie. Jamestown responded by forging a 21-14 lead with 10 of the next 13 points but the Defenders had a run of their own as
Brenna Krommendyk figured into it with three kills and a pair of blocks. Dordt never gained the lead though as the set was tied at 22-22 before Jamestown scored the final three points for a 25-22 win.
