HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Northwestern stopped Dordt 3-0 in GPAC play on Wednesday night in Orange City, controlling much of the match with a high kill efficiency. Dordt had a 7-4 lead in set one after kills by
Macy Kamler,
Ellie Dokter and
Riley Doenhoefer in succession but the hosts rallied as part of a six-point run to lead 13-9. The lead grew to 18-10, and Dordt got no closer than six, falling 25-16 in the set.
Dordt put together a run early in set two to go from down 7-5 to up 10-7 with a couple of Northwestern attack errors and kills by
Kelly McArthur and
Tarren Spartz helping the Dordt cause. Dordt was still up 13-12 when a six-point run by Northwestern gave them an 18-13 lead. The margin proved to be too much to make up as Northwestern took its second 25-16 decision of the night. Â The Defenders never led in set three and lost a 25-12 verdict.
THE NUMBERS
- Northwestern had a 41-30 kills advantage and had seven attack errors to 25 for Dordt.
- Both teams had two ace serves and Northwestern had a 46-41 digs advantage.
- Northwestern capitalized on 14 points from blocks while the Defenders had four.
