(Tuesday, October 24; Sioux Center, Iowa) Kylie Beckering, a senior at Southwest Christian High School (Minnesota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender volleyball program.
"Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about Kylie officially committing to Dordt!" said Dordt volleyball coach Jackie Smith. "She is immensely talented, an incredibly hard worker, and an overall joy to be around. I look forward to seeing her flourish here and to see how she leads and impacts our team in the future."
Beckering is a libero and averaged 6.3 digs as a junior and is currently averaging 7.1 digs per outing. She had 24 ace serves as a junior and was part of a team that won the state consolation bracket in 2021. She has also played on the Northern Lights Club Team and advanced to the Orlando Nationals last summer and finished fifth in the premier division.
"I chose to attend Dordt University because of its openness about God and the Christian faith. I am excited I get to come to a school that incorporates the word of God into every day life while also getting a great education. I am also very excited to be a part of Dordt's amazing volleyball program," said Beckering.
Kylie is the daughter of Dan and Laura Beckering of Chaska, Minnesota. She plans to study
nursing.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.Â
