(Thursday, November 30; Sioux Center, Iowa) Katelyn Maas, a senior at Sioux Falls Christian High School (South Dakota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
"I'm very excited to welcome Katelyn to the Defender Volleyball Program! Katelyn is a versatile left handed hitter that brings a wealth of personal experience and team success. Katelyn has been an integral part of multiple state championship teams and I'm excited to see how she will develop and impact our program! Beyond her talent, Katelyn brings toughness, grit, and steadiness to the volleyball court," said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith.
Maas is a 6-0 rightside hitter and was part of back-to-back state champion teams in 2022 and 2023.
"I chose Dordt because of the Christ-centered community, academics and athletics. I'm excited for the chance to learn and grow in many areas while surrounded by teammates, students and staff that love the Lord," said Maas.
Katelyn is the daughter of Eric and Darcy Maas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She plans to study biology at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
