WHEN

Dordt will play two softball doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15 in Sioux Center. The games on Friday will start at 3:00 and will be at Open Space Park. The games on Saturday will start at 2:00 and  are being played in the ASB Sports Complex.

RECENTLY
Doane is 3-5 in April and lost a pair of Morningside on Tuesday, April 11.  The first game of the two was a 2-1 decision in 10 innings and the Tigers dropped game two 5-1. Camry Moore struck out five in the 2-1 loss and had a walk with two unearned runs allowed.

Hastings stopped a three game slide on April 12 with a 7-5 win over Midland in the second game of a doubleheader in Hastings. The Broncos are 4-4 since April and have a split with Morningside in that timeframe on April 6. In the win over Midland on April 12 the Broncos scored five in the first two innings and then held on as Midland cut the lead to 5-4 at one point. Taylor Stuhr and Macie Mays each had two runs batted in with Mays getting a double and a homerun. Boever was the winning pitcher while scattering 10 hits and she struck out seven.

Dordt is 3-1 in April and split its doubleheader with Midland on April 11.  Dordt scored a run in the top of the 12^th to secure a 2-1 win on a squeeze play in game one and then fell behind almost immediately in game two before falling 7-4.  Dordt had the gap closed to 5-4 after five innings but Midland had an answer and got two runs for insurance.

THE SERIES

Dordt leads the series with Hastings 6-2 since 2018 and won the two games in Hastings last season 6-2 and 11-8. Kraemer was the winner in the 6-2 game while striking out 11 and Boever took the loss with seven strikeouts and four earned runs allowed. Dordt had a 9-5 hits edge in the game.  In the 11-8 game Dordt spread the pitching around with four different players working at least an inning with Kraemer getting the win in relief and she gave up one hit in two innings with a strikeout.

Dordt leads the series with the Doane Tigers 6-2 in the last five seasons and took a 7-2 and 7-6 sweep last season on April 9. A six run fourth inning pushed Dordt to the 7-2 win and Kraemer was the winner with eight strikeouts and she scattered four hits. Karli Olsen and Ivy Terpstra each had homeruns and three players for Dordt had two hits. Dordt claimed a 7-6 win in 11 innings, overcoming a 5-1 deficit after five innings to win it. Kraemer won in relief with five innings of work and struck out six with one run and three hits allowed. Chandler Schemper had four hits and two runs batted in.

NEXT

Dordt will face Northwestern on Tuesday, April 18 in Orange City before playing Morningside and the College of Saint Mary on April 21 and 22 on the road.
