Softball Season Ends In GPAC Tournament

Box Score The Dordt Defender softball season came to an end in an elimination game against Mount Marty on Wednesday, May 3 in Orange City, Iowa.  The Defenders never played from in front and fell 9-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lancers broke through in the second inning with a run and then added two more in the third and one in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.  Neither team scored in the fifth and Dordt got on the board wth three in the sixth inning as Ella Koster delivered a single that scored two runs.  Aurora Tyson then knocked a single to cut the difference to 4-3.

Dordt had runners at second and third with two outs but Mount Marty was able to work out of the trouble. Mount Marty got five runs in the seventh inning and Dordt was retired in order in the seventh to fall 9-3.

THE NUMBERS

  • Dordt was outhit 14-6.
  • Aurora Tyson and Ella Koster were both 2-3 with a run batted in. Koster had a triple for Dordt's only extra base hit.
  • Abby Kraemer took the loss and was charged with three runs on six hits and struck out three.
  • Alexa Kopaska went three and two-thirds and gave up eight hits and struck out two with three walks.
  • Dordt's season ends with a 35-13 record.
