The Dordt Defender volleyball team earned its sixth win of the conference season with a 3-1 win over the Mount Marty Lancers in Yankton, South Dakota on Thursday night. Dordt improved to 12-8 overall with the win.

The Defenders controlled the first set and led 11-5 after a three-point run and stretched the lead to 17-9 with a four-point run that included kills by
Ellie Dokter,
Myra Carlson and
Sara Holleman. The Lancers were never able to make the set close and the Defenders were 25-15 winners.
Set two was a tight affair with 13 ties up to 20-20. The Lancers proceeded to score five of the last seven points and never let the Defenders tie the set again for the 25-22 win. Dordt also lost
Ayden Den Herder for the remainder of the match midway through the set when the junior left with an injury.
The Lancers kept the momentum rolling with a 10-7 lead after a four point run but a service error ended the streak. After a Mount Marty kill pushed the difference back to 11-8, Dordt went on to chip away at the difference and took the lead at 16-15 on a
Myra Carlson block. Mount Marty never led again in the set and Dordt went on to win 25-20 with kills by
Ellie Dokter and
Tarren Spartz and a block by
Haley Kuperus for Dordt's final three points.
A seven-point run by Dordt early in set four swung the score from an 8-4 deficit to an 11-8 advantage and the Defenders held on for the 25-21 win after Mount Marty had the lead down to 22-21. Dordt's final two points were recorded off kills by
Myra Carlson.
