Dordt University fell to 4th-ranked University of Jamestown 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-15) in a non-conference volleyball match played tonight at the Harold Newman Arena in Jamestown, N.D.
The Defenders are now 14-13 this season and have two matches left in the regular season. Jamestown improves its record to 21-1.
How It Happened:
- 1st Set:
- Dordt scored the first two points behind a successful attack by Haley Kuperus and an ace serve from Amy Doef
- the host Jimmies outscored Dordt 8-3 and took the lead for good after back-to-back kills by Aleah Zieske
- with Dordt trailing by three (14-11), Jamestown closed with an 11-5 run, ending with an ace serve by Ellie Holen, to win the first set 25-16
- 2nd Set:
- the Defenders started set two with a 3-0 run, scoring points with an ace serve from Haley Wielenga, a kill by Tarren Spartz and a combined block by Kuperus and Kelly McArthur
- Jamestown surged ahead with a 7-1 run and went up by as many as six (16-10)
- Dordt rallied back, outscoring the Jimmies 8-0 behind the strong serving of Wielenga and the net play of Kuperus and Peyton Poppema, to take an 18-16 lead
- Jamestown answered back with a 5-1 run to take the lead for good and won the second set 25-20
- 3rd Set:
- tied 7-7, Jamestown went on a decisive 15-5 run to take control of the third and final set

- Dordt hit 11% (27 kills, 101 attempts, 16 errors) compared to 31% by Jamestown (47 kills, 105 attempts, 14 errors)
- the Defenders held a slight edge (10-9) in blocks
- Tarren Spartz (8 kills) and Haley Kuperus (7 kills) led the Defenders at the net
- Kelly McArthur (14 assists) and Carlee Jackson (12 assists) combined for 26 assists
- Madison Vis put up 10 digs
- Jamestown was led by Lexi Olson (11 kills) and Aleah Zieske (9 kills)
- Tenley Buddenhagen lofted up 23 assists and Ellie Holen, a two-time All-American, led the backrow with 22 digs
