(Monday, November 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Callie Karhoff, a senior at Unity Christian (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender volleyball program.
"I'm excited for Callie to join our program! She reads the game at a high level and will add depth to our defensive unit. She is a hungry competitor and I'm looking forward to having her be a Defender," said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith.
Karhoff has 1,054 career digs at Unity and she averaged 5.5 digs per set in three seasons with 91 percent serving success. Karhoff was a two-time all-Siouxland Conference selection. She also competed for the Salty Volleyball Club
"I chose Dordt because it was really faith focused and would help me to make my classroom a faith based environment. I feel Dordt will also help me grow in my faith," said Karhoff.
Callie is the daughter of Kim Karhoff of Orange City, Iowa. She plans to study elementary education.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
