(Monday, November 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Juliana McFarland, a senior at Petra Academy (Montana), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the volleyball program.
"I'm so excited for Juliana to join our program. She has a joyful spirit and positive energy that will be contagious and impactful for our team. I'm looking forward to seeing what she will accomplish in her career as a Defender," said Dordt volleyball coach Jacki Smith.
McFarland is an outside hitter and rightside hitter and is 5-9. She played for the Big Sky Volleyball club and helped them to a second-place finish at the 2021 West Coast Nationals.
"I chose Dordt because I love the community. Everyone I talked to has a genuine love for the mission of Dordt and, more importantly, God. I am especially excited about Dordt's amazing pre-physical therapy program and all the amazing opportunities it provides," said McFarland.
Juliana is the daughter of Heidi and Sean McFarland of Bozeman, Montana. She plans to enter the pre-physical therapy program.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
