The Dordt University softball team concluded its Florida spring break trip with losses to MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) and Indiana Tech. The Defenders closed out its trip with an even 6-6 record and come home with a 13-14 overall mark.Â
Game One:Â 4-0 loss vs MidAmerica Nazarene
- Key Plays:
- The Pioneers scored a run in the top of the first inning after a leadoff walk by Cordelia Hanger, who advanced to third on a single by Nyah Brown and scored after a RBI groundout by Kelly Stoakes
- the Defenders had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the second but were unable to get a run across
- an RBI single by Stoakes put MidAmerica Nazarene up 2-0 in the top of the third inning
- the Pioneers pushed a single run across in the fifth and seventh innings to complete the scoring
- Â Alyssa Villa had the lone hit for the Defenders, a leadoff single in the seventh

- Dordt was out-hit 9-1
- Chloe Kreuz (6-5) limited the Pioneers to seven hits and three runs in six innings
- Jadyn Faber allowed two hits and a run in the seventh inning
- Grace Berlage (3-0) limited Dordt to one hit with four walks and eight strikeouts
- three Pioneers had two hits each, Hanger, Brown and Maddie Brooks
- MidAmerica Nazarene improves to 11-6 overall
Game Two: 1-0 loss to Indiana Tech

- the Warriors pushed the lone across in the bottom of the third after a one-out walk by Kenadee Schnick, who stole second and scored on an RBI single by Maire Trouba
- the Defenders first baserunner was on a two-out single by Villa in the top of the 5th
- Chloe Kreuz recorded the Defenders second hit, a two-out single in the seventh
- By the Numbers:
- the teams combined for six hits, all singles
- neither team committed an error
- Alexa Kopaska (1-8) pitched a brilliant six innings, limiting Indiana Tech to four hits and one earned run
- Savannah Bravo (8-0) held Dordt to two hits and recorded five strikeouts
