HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender softball team lost a 5-4 decision to Judson on Thursday morning, March 7 in Florida in a game that went eight innings.
Dordt gave up a run in the first inning but came back with two runs in the home half of the inning with
Aurora Tyson single in
Brooke Rule and
Alyssa Villa getting a run in with a single of her own.
Judson broke through with two runs in the fourth after being retired in order in the second and third, putting together four hits to regain the lead. Dordt evened the game with a run in the fifth as
Brynn Torrenga scored on a sacrifice fly by
Aurora Tyson.  Dordt threatened to regain the lead in the sixth inning ad had runners at second and third after a sacrifice bunt but didn't get a hit as the final two outs of the inning were recorded by strikeout.
Neither team scored in the seventh and Judson got two in on two hits in the eighth while leaving the bases loaded and Dordt got one in the bottom of the inning but left the bases loaded in the 5-4 loss.
THE NUMBERS
- Judson had a 9-8 hits advantage.
- Lauren Steenstra and Emma Groen both had two singles.
- Alexa Kopaska took the loss and went seven and two-third innings with two strikeouts and two walks.
- Dordt did not have an extra base hit in the game and had one loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders lost a 4-1 decision to Spring Arbor on Thursday afternoon, March 7.Â
Dordt got a run in the first inning with
Chloe Kreuz getting a sacrifice fly to score
Brooke Rule and gave Dordt a 1-0 lead. Spring Arbor got a run in the third and then extended the lead with two in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Spring Arbor kept the pressure on with base runners in all but one inning. Dordt's best chance to score more runs came in the second and sixth when the Defenders stranded base runners but didn't get runs.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt was outhit 8-3 and committed one error.
- Bailey Sample took the loss and went four and two-third innings with five hits surrendered.
- Jadyn Faber pitched an inning and a third in relief with three hits allowed.
- Brooke Rule, Ashtyn Grissom and Brooklyn Cox all had singles.
- Dordt is now 9-12 this season.
