VS BELLEVUE
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender softball  team was a 6-4 winner over Bellevue on Friday, March 8 in Clermont, Florida.
The Defenders came from behind to secure the win after allowing a run in the second inning. Dordt rallied with two runs in the fourth inning when
Karli Olsen walked and stole second base.
Aurora Tyson followed with a single and
Chloe Kreuz singled to load the bases.
Lauren Steenstra then delivered a two-run single for a 2-1 lead.
The Bruins knotted the score with a run in the fifth inning but Dordt had an answer with Steenstra again delivering a run scoring single. Bellevue answered with a single that got a run in and the score remained tied with both teams stranding runners in the seventh.
Dordt got three runs in the eighth inning as Kreuz singled in Olsen and Steenstra added her fourth rbi and also scored a run on an
Ashtyn Grissom single. Bellevue got a run across in the home half of the eighth but left tow runners stranded at second and third with the final out on a grounder to the pitcher.
THE NUMBERS
- Both teams had nine hits.
- Dordt was hampered by three errors.
- Two runs Bellevue's runs were unearned.
- Lauren Steenstra was 3-4 with four runs batted on a double and two singles.
- Chloe Kreuz was 2-4  a run batted in. Kreuz pitched six innings with five strikeouts.
- Jadyn Faber got the win in two innings of relief and struck out two.
VS SPRING ARBOR
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt won its second eight-inning game of the day with a 4-3 win over Spring Arbor on Friday afternoon.
Dordt plated three runs in the first inning with
Brooke Rule,
Karli Olsen and
Aurora Tyson all scoring. Rule and Olsen had a triple and single each in the inning for Dordt's only hits of the inning.
Spring Arbor got one run in the fourth and then tied the game with two in the fifth and the two teams were scoreless in the seventh.
Dordt retired Spring Arbor in order in the eighth inning with a pair of pop-outs starting the inning. The Defenders then won the game with a
Karli Olsen squeeze bunt scoring Brooklyn Cox from third.
THE NUMBERS
- Spring Arbor had a 7-3 hits advantage.
- Jadyn Faber earned her second win of the day and struck out two in three and two-third innings and didn't allow a base runner.
- Alexa Kopaska pitched four and at third innings and walked one with four strikeouts.
- Karli Olsen had two hits and knocked in two runs.
- Dordt is now 11-12.
