Zylstra Earns GPAC Player of the Week Honor

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) announced its weekly award winners for women's soccer and Maria Zylstra earned the top honor on offense. 

Notes:

  • this is the first time Zylstra has earned the weekly honor
  • Zylstra is the third Defenders player to receive the honor this season:
  • Zylstra netted two goals in the Defenders 3-0 against Briar Cliff last week
  • the sophomore converted a penalty kick for the Defenders first goal and netted her second goal 15 minutes later
  • Zylstra ranks second on the Defenders with four goals and 14 points this season
  • Zylstra ranks third in the GPAC with a team-leading six assists
  • the sophomore has talled at least one point in five matches
  • Zylstra has 20 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in her career
  • Dordt is currently tied for second in the GPAC with a 6-2-1 record (19pts) with two conference matches left in the regular season
  • the Defenders will host Dakota State (S.D.) on Wednesday night at 5pm in non-conference play
